Every now and again someone asks what QoS Access Category (AC) a particular application uses, usually to see if a VoIP application is tagging its packets correctly. I recently checked this out for two differnt applications so thought I’d start a record of what I find.
I’ve included the Wireshark filter in my captures so you can see how to check this for yourself if you have a test client and the ability to packet capture (if you don’t check out wlanpi.com). The filter is 3 parts, 1) show just traffic coming from my client MAC, 2) show frame types of QoS Data, 3) Do not show retries.
Skype For Business – iOS 14 – November 2020 = Voice tagging

Microsoft Teams – iOS 14 – November 2020 = Best Effort tagging
